When seeing Facebook.com, rather than seeing the normal homescreen or information feed, users were welcomed with a blank display and a short mistake message.
" Sorry, something went wrong. We're working on it and also we'll get it fixed as soon as we can," the message reads.
The blackout started at around 5.30 pm BST however, for the majority of customers, appeared to have been dealt with around 20 minutes after.
Down Detector, which collates records of popular solutions being down, showed blackouts in the UK, Europe and also the US.

The web site dropped on Thursday afternoon as well as brief-ly appeared to work again for some users.
